Edgartown, which also includes the island of Chappaquiddick, is the largest town on Martha’s Vineyard as well as one of the two original towns on the island. Stately Greek revival and Federal homes dot the main street of the historic district and ring Edgartown harbor which was once a thriving whaling port in the 1800s.

The village center offers something for everyone with numerous galleries, fine restaurants, candy and ice cream stores and a variety of shops to explore at your leisure.

Some of the "must see" sites in Edgartown include the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, the Edgartown Lighthouse, and the Old Whaling Church. Take a trip on the 3 car ferry the “On Time II” to the island of Chappaquiddick where the trustees of reservations offer guided tours of the Cape Pogue Lighthouse, kayaking trips, seaside explorations and the Mytoi Japanese garden tucked into a serene pine grove.

The Edgartown waterfront offers miles of beaches including Edgartown Great Pond, Joseph Sylvia State Beach, Fuller Street Beach, Lighthouse Beach and South Beach.
