Description

Endless water views, fully updated, and steps from a sandy beach excellent for swimming our homes have both been gorgeously remodeled and designed with a simple yet sophisticated Martha's Vineyard-meets-California feel. Our welcoming, centrally-air-conditioned Main House has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 10. The guest house, included in summer 2020 rentals and described in more detail below, sleeps an additional four people. Airy and uncluttered, designed for user-friendly simplicity, with a modern-vintage aesthetic, the expansive Main House is set back and buffered by a generous lawn -- so you’re still in the Ocean Park/Inkwell Beach area, but with more breathing room. Inside the home has golden-blonde wide-plank pine floors, a brand new kitchen, new doors & windows, with freshly updated mattresses & pillows, pro-style appliances including dishwasher, gas range, French door refrigerator with ice maker & filtered water, and a full-sized washer/dryer set apart in its own laundry/"mud" room -- there's a back entrance here, off the wraparound porch, for easy access to and from the enclosed outdoor shower (outdoor shower is in addition to subway tile/glass door indoor shower). There is a king size bed in a larger than usual master BR. Tons of seating (and dining) inside at a large table as well as a butcher-block topped island/bar area, and on the wraparound porch (3-sided). You're perfectly situated for the annual fireworks and dining/coffee/cocktails outside. There are 4 well appointed bedrooms in the Main House -- one downstairs and three upstairs (including a large bedroom with a queen & 2 twins -- the "Oak Bluffs" room, which is perfect for sharing). The second-story private deck off the master bedroom offers views of the ocean, as well as Farm Pond. A second porch off the second & third upstairs bedrooms also has ocean views. Two sets of French doors from the kitchen and dining area open out to a larger portion of the deck and stunning ocean views. A third set of French doors opens to another deck along the charming side-street. Updated bathrooms (tiled walk-in shower downstairs, a deep soaking tub upstairs). There's an open and connected feeling downstairs, and the 3 sets of downstairs French double-doors connect it all to the porch and the outdoor seating/dining/BBQ area. (Steps here bring you down to the Lilac House/guest house.) The property is ideally located for beach-going, dining out and various outdoor/athletic activities. Cross the road and go for a swim. Walk less than 10 minutes and you have your choice of in-town and harbor-front restaurants & cafes (the short walk means you'll never have to search for a parking space to dine in-town in the high season). We're also walkable from the Oak Bluffs ferry docking (the Steamship Authority OB). And it's a very short distance (5 houses) to the long bike path that runs along the island's edge & sands of State Beach and into Edgartown. There is also a great park/playground/tennis & basketball courts (Niantic Park) nearby (another short and pleasant walk). For rainy days and taking a break there are two TVs, 1 in the master BR and another in the more casual section of the living room area (a DVD player here, along with games and some movies for kids). Beds in total in the Main House: 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, 1 full sized bed, and 2 twin beds. Rentals for summer 2020 includes the ocean-facing single-story guest house (the Lilac House) which has 2 bunk beds (4 twin bed sleeping spaces) and bringing the rental's total sleeping space/number of guests up to 14. Even if you have a smaller number of vacationers, the additional 'bunk' house is perfect for overnight visitors and/or a place for some members of your party to have their own space. It includes an additional bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) and a full kitchen (stove, refrigerator, sink, no dishwasher), as well as a TV (the rental would then have 3 full bathrooms, 3 TVs and 2 kitchens) and is cooled by a window AC unit. Photos of the interior of the Lilac House will be posted as the remodel is completed.
